Permanent installation in the foyer, open before and after every performances

An imaginary cage is a multimedia sound installation which will be presented in the foyer for the duration of the festival and dedicated to the work of John Cage, American musician and thinker and “the father” of sound experimentation. It will be the first time some innovative electro-acoustic technologies for sound diffusion is used in Italy. In 1965, Cage used analogous creative procedures for his Rozart Mix, in addition to structural elements such as the loop and above all, a totally indeterminate duration of the work. In this work, as in other works during the sixties, two fundamental concepts developed: compositional procedures based on chance and the use of preexisting musical material. The installation pays a homage to two aspects of the artist: a work that plays on the idea of a cage and Cage (John Cage). The work is comprised of a visual aspect and a musical one, and it makes use of sound panels, designed and realized for the first time for this occasion.
